Position Title: Arts Administrator
Work type: Full time

Expected salary range: AUD 61,000 to AUD 66,000 per annum

**ABOUT THE ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE BRISBANE**

Established in 1907, the Alliance Française de Brisbane is a not-for-profit organisation that helps businesses and individuals achieve more with French.

Centrally located in West End, the Alliance offers French language courses provided by qualified teachers, a French library and an e-library, and numerous cultural events as well as social activities.

Its signature event, the Alliance Française French Film Festival, is the biggest French film festival in the world outside of France and is held in March/April every year.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

We are looking for an Arts Administrator to plan, organise, coordinate, and promote the Alliance’s cultural efforts. A major part of the role will be the programming and management of our annual flagship event, the Alliance Française French Film Festival.

The role is diverse, dynamic and will involve personal interactions, strategy development, as well as administration work.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Overall
- Establish appropriate strategies and processes to develop further the Alliance’s cultural offering: setting an annual schedule, monitoring of resources, representing the organisation, controlling the budget planning and expenditures, organising and promoting the events, liaising with the media, and reporting on events.

Alliance Française French Film Festival:

- Manage and deliver the flagship event, the annual Alliance Française French Film Festival, and its special events
- Organise facilities and manage all events’ details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee lists, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc.
- Seek sponsorship and funding opportunities
- Liaise with stakeholders
- Monitor work progress to deliver events within the time limits
- Coordinate the activities of volunteers (selection, training, supervision)
- Liaise with the PR and communication agencies

Event management:

- Establish, manage and deliver the annual program of cultural and social events
- Liaise with patrons to identify their needs and to ensure their satisfaction
- Adjust processes to improve provided services and event quality
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations

**IDEAL CANDIDATE**

Education & Experience
- Tertiary qualification
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role for a cultural centre; 4 to 5 years in a French cultural centre (Alliance Française or Institut français) highly desirable
- Proven track record of events planning and organisation
- High-level of written and verbal communication skills in English (higher-education degree from an English-speaking country or TOEFL iBT score of 80 or higher, or equivalent certification).
- Proven command of French language (native or near-native fluency: higher-education degree from a French-speaking country or DALF C1 or equivalent certification).

- Ability to prioritise tasks and work autonomously in a busy environment
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure, especially on events like the opening of the French Film Festival

- Interest in France and the French culture, particularly in French cinema
