Your Opportunity
**As an International Engagement Officer, you will**:
- Provide a range of student engagement focused outcomes and administration that ensures compliance with Commonwealth and State government requirement by providing advice, representation, support and advocacy to current international students.
- Act as a liaison between international students and faculty.
This position reports sits in the Engagement team and reports to the Team Leader, International Support and Engagement.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity, unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at South Brisbane however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
- Live a safety culture, lead by example and support the Health Safety and Environment Management System to create a TAFE Queensland wide safety culture.
- Provide professional administrative support to international students by undertaking the system processing required to manage changes to course enrolment for international students by utilising various software packages, systems, databases and web-based technologies.
- Support and engage in international student engagement initiatives, including international student orientation, international student events and activities, and the provision of ongoing support to international students.
- Provide international students as well as faculty withadministrative support and reliable advice regarding visa requirements, legislative requirements under the Educational Services for Overseas Students (ASOS) Act, academic matters and student welfare and student equity.
- Provide advice and support services to international students from arrival in-country and throughout their program of study, including referral to and negotiation with appropriate internal contacts and/or external agencies.
- Maintain an understanding of the issues pertinent to international students and liaise regularly with faculty and relevant staff to ensure that international student concerns are addressed in a timely manner according to internal policy and legislative requirements where applicable.
- Maintain and provide accurate information to prospective and enrolled students to sell and on sell TAFE Queensland products and services.
- Case manage international students where appropriate in relation to scholarships, awards, programs, compliance with the ESOS framework, homestay, academic and other issues where required.
- Undertake research and development on matters relating to business functions.
- Ensure day to day activities align with business operations.
- Contribute to improvement in business processes and practices.

- Demonstrated ability to utilise computers, software packages and web-based technologies at an intermediate or higher level.
- A base level of knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of issues pertinent to international students, including knowledge of relevant legislation, record keeping requirements and an understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors and courses for overseas students.
- Proficiency in all aspects of office administration, especially those related to the smooth running of an educational establishment.
- Well-developed written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to produce quality written.
