**The Opportunity**
We are experiencing an increasing level of investment into our towns and villages and are seeking a driven and customer-centric planning coordinator to lead our new Fast Track Assessment team. The Coordinator Planning Assessment manages the assessment team responsible for more complex proposals to deliver development assessments in a timely and efficient manner, meeting customer needs and ensuring Council’s planning objectives and legislative requirements are satisfied. The Coordinator is responsible for the assessment, review and determination of proposals for development including multi dwelling residential development, commercial and industrial development and subdivisions. This position also has the responsibility for reporting to the Local and Regional Planning Panels, as well as managing appeals.

This position is located within Civic Centre, Moss Vale, within Council’s Communities & Place team, reporting to the Manager Development Assessment and Regulation.

**About You**
1.Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Science or equivalent discipline with a Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience in Planning and Development Assessment

2.Experience working in or with local government
3.Proven extensive, innovative and facilitative style of management which develops and stimulates a high performing team
4.Demonstrated technical knowledge of relevant statutory frameworks
5.Provide comprehensive experience in the assessment of a variety of development proposals in a variety of settings
6.Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence and continuous process improvement
7.Previous experience in staff mentoring and building capacity in order to professionally develop technical skills and experience to meet assessment targets within the business plan and achieve customer service commitments
8.Demonstrated extensive and detailed knowledge of relevant legislation including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulations 2000, with proven comprehensive experience in the assessment of complex development proposals in a variety of residential, commercial and industrial and rural contexts.
9.Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships within the development industry and provide a high level of customer service.
10.Demonstrated ability to be resilient to work pressures and demands
11.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to critically analyse issues and the ability to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
12.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders both internal and external to negotiate outcomes and resolve conflict.
13.Minimum Class C Drivers’ Licence.

**Desirable Criteria**
1.Local government experience in a similar experience
2.Previous experience in the attendance to local or regional planning panels
3.Previous experience in the Land and Environment Court in representing Council as an Expert Witness
