**About us**
Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional services in custodial settings and programs in both custodial and community settings to reduce the risk of re-offending and enhance public safety. As an important element of the criminal justice system, CSNSW manages offenders in custody and in the community. CSNSW works in partnership with other government and community agencies to ensure that inmates, offenders and their families are supported.
**About the role**
The Project and Policy Officer will be part of the newly formed Diversity team (within the Diversity and Responsivity Directorate), for which they will provide project management support.
This team will provide strategic direction and support to the broader agency relating to young, aged and frail, LGBTQIA+ and culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
Primarily you will:
- Research and review best practice frameworks and resources.
- Lead projects relating to the diverse cohort inmates and offenders.
- Assist in research and consultation to provide advice about diverse people in our care (custody and community).
- Contribute to development of active Transgender & Gender Diverse Projects.
- Engage in genuine co-design with people in contact with CSNSW, communities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to inform strategies.
- Develop strategies for impacted groups in remand, sentenced and community environments.
- Support CSNSW staff to implement strategies, including the Department of Community and Justice (DCJ’s) Multicultural Strategy.
- Secretariat duties in relevant Working Groups
- Monitoring and actioning team shared mailbox enquiries
**About You**
- You are enthusiastic about making a difference and have experience, knowledge and understanding of project management methodology.
- You will be joining a team that is focused on developing a culture of performance and who are innovative in their approach to what works.
- Ideally, you will have experience and an understanding of work in both custodial and community spheres is highly desirable, particularly with Young Adult, Aged & Frail, LGBTIQA+, and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) inmates & offenders.
- Have an understanding of diverse cohorts of inmates & offenders in the CSNSW environment and/or ability to rapidly learn about these diverse cohorts, their needs and intersections with internal & external stakeholders.
- Adept communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills
- An ability to work under tight timeframes, whilst managing competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Advanced technology skills in EDRMS, OIMS, SharePoint, Microsoft Office suite of programs to maximise administration efficiencies.
- Will need to be willing to travel to Parramatta to meet as often as required.
