**About the role**:
You will lead and manage a team responsible for identifying, developing, designing, and delivering high quality, effective and responsive legal and regulatory policy advice and instruments, aligned with EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. Working closely with the Director, Policy and Regulation, you use your excellent stakeholder engagement skills and networks to foster genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to deliver organisational outcomes. This is a senior management role for an experienced regulatory and legal policy professional who wants to contribute to the success of the EPA and the Victorian Government’s environmental protection goals.

**In this role you will**:

- Draw on expertise across EPA to lead effective input to key State and national legislative and regulatory reforms and policy development.
- Lead the development of high quality legislative instruments, guidelines and regulatory policy.
- Lead the unit to continue to achieve high standards and a strong positive culture.

**Skills and experience**:

- Leadership experience in development and delivering legislative instruments and regulatory policy in a fast moving and challenging public policy context.
- Expert understanding of the principles and procedures for the development of legislative instruments, regulatory policy and legislation in Victoria.
- Excellent communications skills including the ability to effectively communicate complex matters through clear and succinct briefings and papers, engaging presentations and effective meetings and conversations.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including building a shared sense of direction, clarifying priorities, identifying and responding proactively to strategic issues impacting the operating environment.
- Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive senior management team in an organisation.
- A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications in law.
