Munich Re is the leading reinsurer in the Australasian Non-Life market and offers both treaty and facultative reinsurance support for all the main classes of business including Property, Engineering Liability, Motor and Marine. The Casualty Treaty team sits within the Underwriting team with a clear focus on quality of underwriting casualty exposures to the Munich Re portfolio portfolio.
Your job
You will be the leader of the Casualty Treaty team reporting to the Head of Underwriting and be part of the Underwriting Management team with Property Manager and Facultative Manager who are responsible in the development and execution of the underwriting strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the team to achieve business imperatives and meet/ exceed internal and external stakeholder expectations
- Develop competencies of the team to ensure we have the necessary skills to meet customer, stakeholder and employees’ expectations
- Provide Casualty underwriting capability to our underwriters as well as clients (either directly where appropriate or in partnership with Client Management) to ensure we achieve anticipated value add targets and profit contributions for all Casualty business
- Achieve and maintain underwriting and pricing quality in Casualty lines of all types of participation
- Responsible for portfolio steering and maintain overall portfolio quality
- Instigate and support new product innovation and enhancement both at the local and global levels and with the client base
- In conjunction with the Client Management team, develop new client relationships and strengthen existing ones to achieve expected growth and profit contribution
- Maintain and develop industry profile as expert in Casualty matters
**Profile**:
- Solid experience in treaty reinsurance industry (industry, products, regulations & trends)
- Strong numerical/actuarial skills with ability to analyse and provide insights
- Demonstrated ability to understand and provide solutions to complex portfolios
- Previous leadership experience is essential
- Ability to develop and implement effective client strategies through a structured approach
- Excellent stakeholder skills to be able to proactively engage with and leverage internal stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to client engagement
