Your Role
As the Casualty Pricing Manager within the Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) Pricing team, youll lead the development and execution of technical and commercial pricing strategies for casualty insurance products, with a focus on Standalone Liability and Professional& Financial Lines. Your role is pivotal in delivering data-driven insights and pricing models that support profitable growth and align with IAGs purpose of making the world a safer place.
Youll manage a team of pricing specialists and analysts, guiding them in the design, deployment, and monitoring of robust pricing models tailored to long-tail, high-severity, low-frequency casualty products. Youll also lead strategic pricing initiatives, collaborate with portfolio and distribution teams, and ensure pricing strategies align with business objectives and market trends.
Collaboration is key, and youll work closely with cross-functional teams including Portfolio, Underwriting, Claims, Valuations, Data Analytics and Finance to ensure pricing decisions are informed, compliant, and strategically aligned. Your leadership will foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture while maintaining strong governance and risk controls across all pricing activities.
This is a permanent role and can be based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park, Sydney) or Naarm (Melbourne).
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in general insurance pricing, portfolio and or valuations.
- Pricing experience within long-tail classes such as standalone Liability and Financial Lines is highly valued.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing pricing teams and fostering high-performance cultures.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex pricing insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience and understanding of underwritten insurance classes is beneficial.
- Proven expertise in technical pricing methodologies, including IBNR and GLM modelling, and modern analytics techniques.
- Experience in developing and implementing pricing strategies that support commercial goals and regulatory compliance.
