Provide technical and team leadership for the Overhead Engineering Discipline for management of change and development, risk management, technical standards and advice and engineering management systems in an innovative, cost effective and high-quality manner.

Manage projects to meet MTM’s and the Chief Engineers business improvement initiatives for Overhead Engineering

This role is offered on a
**full time permanent** basis operating out of MTMs North Melbourne depot

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop and set the technical direction for the Overhead System for the Melbourne Electrical Railway for it to meet the future needs of the Victorian travelling public.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage a team of engineers to ensure the engineering functions of the team are performed within regulation, quality and budget
- Leads the Change Management Process in accordance with MTM discipline, This includes product approvals, engineering changes and evaluations
- Leads and oversees in identifying, assessing and managing all material risks utilising the MTM risk management process.
- Leads the organisation in policy, planning and standards for Overhead Engineering
- Manages resources to ensure allocation to suit safety, business and other needs
- Endorses proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs
- Sets clear goals for the team, develops and improves continuously with team processes, sets SMART KPIs and provides clear career path and progression opportunities

**Specifically for Decision Making Authority**:

- Prepare and manage budgets, including continuously manage financial metrics and indicators to ensure operational targets are met
- Manage and exercise accountability for functional compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements and Metro policies, procedures and processes,
- Perform duties with respect for the law and good governance reporting any concerns or suspect activity.

**Qualification & Skills**
- Bachelor of Engineering Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualifications and as a minimum obtained Registered Engineer Status
- Proven experience in providing leadership of a team of specialists in the designated railway Engineering discipline
- Extensive experience in designing, maintenance, construction, asset management and project management in the Engineering Discipline
- Ability to initiate and maintain extensive contacts with key stakeholders both within and outside MTM with advanced interpersonal skills
