We require Power System Electrical Engineers to support our continued expansion, with the opportunity to grow with a team of experienced leaders. The role is for a broadfooted designer looking to maintain the freedom to work across their preferred areas of power systems specialty, with greenfield and brownfield project opportunities.

There is the opportunity to be based in our Newcastle, Melbourne or Brisbane Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical support through the full project lifecycle, including concept, feasibility, detailed design, construction, commissioning and operation & maintenance.
• Undertake detailed designs for primary systems, secondary systems, earthing systems and transmission lines, with support from the Principal Engineers.
• Lead investigations, studies and find solutions with support from the Principal Engineers.
• Perform power system studies and prepare reports, including insulation co-ordination, fault levels, arc flash, earth potential rise, protection settings and relay configuration.
• Liaise with electrical authorities, project stakeholders, clients, and internal engineers.
• Develop, maintain and apply a working knowledge of relevant regulatory, engineering legislation, codes of practice, and standards associated with power systems.

About you:

• Professional qualified and registered engineer (e.g. CPEng, RPEQ), or willingness to become accredited.
• 5+ years electrical design experience.
• Knowledge of power system fundamentals and fault analysis.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to enable you to provide commercially sound and pragmatic solutions.
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles and experience with working in accordance with a Quality Assurance System.
• Communicate effectively with a range of persons including customers, suppliers, contractors, other technical experts and senior management (written and verbal).
• Diploma/Advanced Diploma or Electrical trade qualifications, highly regarded.
• Experience in protection system construction and commissioning, highly regarded.
• Experience with PTW, PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerFactory software and power system modelling experience, highly regarded.
• Experience in substation secondary design for substations 11kV to 330kV (including IEC61850), highly regarded.
• Experience in substation primary design and knowledge of plant, highly regarded.
• Experience in earthing system design, highly regarded.
• Experience in transmission line design (including use of PLS-CADD software), highly regarded.
• A flexible and collaborative approach, with the ability to work within a true supportive team environment.
