**THE ROLE**

Working within the high-performing and collaborative Office of the Secretary team, the Advisor provides high quality advice and support to the Secretary on a range of issues. The Advisor brings critical thinking skills, analysis and the ability to test assumptions to their work, and is able to operate with discretion, diplomacy and clarity. The Advisor plays a key role in supporting the quality of briefings and timely delivery of materials to the Secretary, portfolio ministers and external stakeholders, and works closely with the Deputy Secretary Offices to uplift briefing quality and processes. The Advisor also supports the Secretary by coordinating briefings for Secretary meetings with ministers. The position regularly liaises with a wide range of internal stakeholders and operates with a high level of professionalism, initiative and collaboration.

This role operates in a complex and demanding environment, requiring capacity to effectively work as part of a team with attention to detail, liaise effectively with senior executives and build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Develop, maintain and enhance key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Ministers' offices, central agencies and departmental staff.
- Contribute to strategic projects led by the Office of the Secretary, working with a high level of accountability and confidentiality.
- Provide quality assurance in both technical and conceptual domains for departmental briefings to ensure high quality, accurate advice is provided to the Secretary and Ministers.
