Budget Strategy Branch in Budget Policy Division collaborates across Treasury and the Department of Finance to deliver the Budget and related fiscal reports.

We advise the Treasurer on the fiscal outlook, budget strategy and balance sheet management. We are responsible for Budget medium and long term projections, analysis and scenario modelling, the fiscal strategy and the Intergenerational Report.

We are an intellectually curious, hard-working and sociable team who use analytic and economic tools to solve complex public finance problems.

Roles may include:

- Providing advice to the Treasurer on areas including the Fiscal Strategy and balance sheet issues.
- Engaging across the Department and Portfolio on key fiscal and balance sheet issues.
- Drafting of key budget documents, including the Intergenerational Report.
- Undertaking data analysis to support medium and long term fiscal projections.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

Successful applicants will:

- have strong economic analytic, data and policy skills
- be intellectually curious but results focused
- be driven to build human capital across economics, policy and analysis.

Assistant Directors will have well developed leadership skills and would be expected to mentor junior staff members.

Economic policy and analysis experience important. Experience in fields such as modelling/forecasting, budget, accounting, or data analysis favourably considered.
