The Australian Centre for Evaluation (ACE) is a newly established Branch in the Australian Treasury. There are multiple opportunities available across a range of classifications at the APS4 - EL1 levels to fill roles in two business units: the Impact Evaluation Unit, and the Evaluation Leadership, Policy and Capability Unit.

**About the Roles**

The Impact Evaluation Unit is responsible for:

- Partnering with government agencies to conduct impact evaluations, using randomised trials or similar impact evaluation methods that establish a credible counterfactual. This will involve:

- formalising partnerships and associated governance arrangements with agencies
- designing and implementing evaluations in collaboration with partners, which may include: choosing an evaluation method; data collection, integration and cleaning; data analysis and identification of treatment effects; and peer review, and communicating results to a range of audiences
- Providing technical support to agencies to plan and commission their own impact evaluations, and to help build their capability in relation to impact evaluation.
- Developing resources and training materials for impact evaluations.

**Qualifications and Experience**

As an applicant for positions at the APS4-6 levels, you must demonstrate your:

- experience and/or academic qualifications in conducting rigorous impact evaluations using methods of causal inference (that is, randomised trials or quasi‑experimental designs). Please be specific about what role you played in the design, implementation, analysis and/or reporting of impact evaluations. Relevant academic qualifications could include studies in econometrics, biostatistics, epidemiology or similar.
- ability to clean, manipulate and analyse data, preferably using R or Stata.
- strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and persuasive manner to non-technical audiences
- strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners
- strong organisational skills that allow you to manage your own time and respond flexibly to shifting demands. This includes the ability to deliver while managing expectations, risks, and competing priorities

As an applicant for positions at the EL1 level, you must address the criteria above but you will be expected to show greater depth in the skills or experience required. You will also be expected to demonstrate your:

- leadership abilities including, for example, in relation to stakeholder management, and project oversight and delivery.
