**The Role**
Located at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Williamtown, the Air Warfare Systems Program Office (AWSPO) leads and manages a portfolio of projects and products in support of Air Force and Navy capability. AWSPO, in partnership with industry, deliver the Lead-in-Fighter, Advanced Training and Test Environment and Special Operations Air Warfare Capabilities in support of Air Combat Group, Air Warfare Centre and Maritime Warfare Centre.

As an APS 5 Commercial Officer, you are an integral part of the commercial function within AWSPO. We are looking for someone with strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills with a background in procurement and contract development, management and governance. You will be comfortable with change and champion continual business improvement. The role includes monitoring and managing contract administration, performance and risks against the contract and contributing to implementing appropriate action.

An APS 5 Commercial Officer performs commercial work within an integrated workforce. They need to develop and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. As an APS 5 Commercial Officer, you will organise your workflow and make independent decisions relating to your area of responsibility. You will interpret and provide advice within the commercial function based on legislation, policy and procedures. You will also undertake specialist research and analysis conduct reviews and perform procedural support work to achieve results. As an APS 5 Commercial Officer, you will engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. You will contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
