**The Role**
If you are looking to expand your contract management skills in a supportive and team orientated workplace then this is a position for you. As a Contract Management Officer you will be instrumental in developing and executing the contracts across Surveillance and Control Systems Program Office (S&CSPO).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential. This position is located in the premier tourist destination in Australia; the Hunter region. With idyllic surf beaches in Port Stephens and Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter wine region, hiking trails, and the Barrington Tops are all within an hour of the Base.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. You will need the ability to work collaboratively, providing support across various teams and are able to demonstrate:
- Provide management planning, tendering and formation and associated and contracting activities in line with legislation, policies, processes and procedures.
- Prepare and review complex management correspondence including commercially sensitive reports, submissions, contract change proposals and other documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Engage and negotiate with clients, stakeholders and suppliers to initiate improvements and resolve complex category management issues.
- Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to being an active team member.
