Head of Production, Quality

The Role

This role will lead and oversee the Production and Quality Technical activities of the Mimco business; along with working with the Managing Director, and Mimco Leadership team to develop and define business vision, strategy and business plan to drive sales and market share growth for Mimco.

Key Responsibilities
- Technical delivery of the Mimco Jewel and Leather ranges in keeping with brand image, option plan, price points and margin
- Work collaboratively with the design team to support and review range development prior to range sign off - ensuring to meet margin targets
- Attend Executive Management Committee (Range Sign Off) to ensure design briefs and ranges are well executed and considered
- Manage the prototype process through the Mimco tech team - ensuring accuracy and clarity in supplier communication
- Liaise and build relationships with group sourcing to identify gaps in supply base and expand overseas agents and key vendors to drive sourcing synergies
- Select vendors based on quality standards, product construction, price and minimums in conjunction with group sourcing.
- Ensure Mimco quality manual and standards are updated, maintained and delivered to internal stakeholders and vendor base on a regular basis
- Ensure that Mimco quality standards are understood and adhered to through the prototype and fit process in conjunction with the Mimco Tech team.
- Lead the team to respond to customer and store feedback on ranges and product in relation to quality, raw materials and commerciality
- Manage and communicate ideas and growth opportunities for the Leather/Jewel business to the Mimco LT inline with business strategy
- Drive productivity and process improvement within the Mimco business - challenging the ways of working to gain efficiencies
- Lead and develop the technical, raw materials and critical path management teams to ensure they are equipped and motivated to achieve functional goals.
- Align with Head Of Design to deliver GBJ goals and identify opportunities for product, processes and packaging
- Travel to overseas vendors to build and maintain relationships, check process and production lines when required
- Set business critical path in line with business expectations and manage team to meet deadlines and ensure delivery of effective cost negotiations
- Qualification which centres around relevant industry experience - most likely from a Production or Quality technical background in Jewel/Leather.
- Strong demonstrated experience within Production and/or Quality tech
- Previous experience managing a Production and/or Quality tech team
- Experience in the luxury, accessible luxury/premium sector of the fashion industry
- Ideally experience in accessories and/or design led brands
- An understanding of general business practices
- Ability to lead and motivate teams - mentor teams
- Strong commercial acumen, instinctive trading skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work within team
