The Head of Production is a key part of the local management team in Melbourne. The overall purpose of the role is to manage production of all work through the facility and to run the production team. The Head of Production has oversight of all project budgets and schedules and specific responsibility for those project revenues and costs pertaining to the Melbourne facility. Additionally, responsibilities will cover aspects of new business, under direction from the Heads of Studio, Global Head of Production and the CEO.

**Responsibilities**:

- Production Management_
- Responsible for recruitment and daily management of local VFX Production team
- Appraisals of all local production staff (in conjunction with other global counterparts where necessary)
- To assess local production needs, allocating relevant VFX producer and production teams to each project
- Key point of contact for issues arising in Melbourne productions, escalating issues and recommendations to Head of Studio, Global Head of Production and global counterparts where needed
- Joint responsibility for monitoring production tools and workflows, especially as they pertain to multisite working
- Joint responsibility for new show set-up needs and procedures
- Executive VFX Production_
- To maintain an overview of all VFX producers' schedules (local and global), ensuring projects are completed to highest standard achievable
- To meet regularly with VFX Producers to monitor project budgets (local and combined) and ensure that they are working within given targets
- To oversee liaison with clients in areas of responsibility and budgetary importance as needed
- To engage in Melbourne production team mentoring, support and training as agreed
- Budgetary Control_
- Responsible for working with Heads of Studio, Global Head of Production and CEO to set approved budgets at start of project
- Monitoring project costs in line with production progress and overall budgetary targets
- To meet regularly with VFX Producers to monitor project budgets and ensure that they are working within given targets
- To oversee liaison with global colleagues in areas of responsibility and budgetary importance as needed

**Additional Responsibilities**:

- To work alongside the Head of Operations to assess crewing needs for all VFX projects in line with global counterparts
- To liaise with Resources team and other key support departments as needed, both locally and globally
- Joint responsibility, alongside Head of Operations, for Melbourne new business meetings and bidding (in line with instructions from Head of Studio & CEO)
- To act as local ambassador for Framestore and promote a professional, creative and vibrant environment to the local VFX and film community
- Previous experience in a producer or production management position
- Extensive experience with team management including performance, pay, mentoring and coaching
- Problem solving skills
- Negotiation skills and diplomacy
- A proven ability to establish good relationships and an understanding of how to build a successful team
- Strong communication skills
