**$105,392.80 - $116,249.78 pa (plus 11% super and annual pay increases)**

**Your New Career**:
You will oversee a high functioning team as well as working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure council’s parks and open space assets are well maintained and in safe condition for the community and users of these spaces.

**What you will bring to the Role**:
We are looking for a values based motivated leader, with extensive experience who is able to coordinate the maintenance of council’s parks and open space assets to comply with relevant regulations and service level standards.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Extensive experience in the management of Parks and Open Space in a local government setting.
- High level knowledge in the principles and practices related to Horticulture, Arboriculture and Turf Management.
- Extensive management experience including people leadership, financial management, performance management and the ability to develop and lead a successful team.
- High level understanding how to implement quality management practices, including continuous improvement and managing growth.
- Excellent communication skills with a ‘customer first’ approach.
- High level understanding of council’s Tree Risk Management Plan.
- High level understanding of OH&S regulations and risk management.
- High level contract development and management experience.

**Key Selection Criteria**:
**Mandatory Qualifications and Experience**:

- Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline Horticulture, Arboriculture, Landscape Architecture and skills and knowledge developed through five or more years’ experience in a similar role, or more extensive experience in a relevant position.
- Highly developed project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects at any one time.
- Highly developed management skills, including demonstrated leadership, financial management, performance improvement skills and the ability to contribute to a successful team.
- Highly developed understanding of and ability to implement quality management practices, including continuous improvement and Occupational Health and Safety management system.
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to effectively liaise with staff, Councillors, customers and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member/leader of a team, often working to strict deadlines on infrastructure projects of a social and cultural nature.
- A current Working With Children Check
- You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia
- Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council).
- A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia._
