**Your New Career**:
In the Open Space Operations team we work together to deliver open space maintenance programs to keep our community and our environment safe and beautiful. The Vegetation Maintenance Team is made up of two crews, sitting within Open Space Operations and is responsible for the upkeep of trees and vegetation in accordance with both the Road Management Plan and the Tree Risk Management Plan. The Vegetation Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for leading the team to deliver works that are both programmed and reactive on a day to day basis.

**About you**:
Council’s Open Space Operations Unit is seeking an experienced individual to provide leadership on a daily basis to a work team responsible for vegetation maintenance. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources whilst maintaining a safe workplace.

**Key Selection Criteria**:
**Mandatory Qualifications and Experience**:

- Diploma in Arboriculture with several years of experience in the arboriculture / horticulture area of local government or equivalent. Enrolled and studying Diploma in Arboriculture will be considered.
- Current Medium Rigid driver’s licence.
- UET20312 - Certificate II in ESI - Powerline Vegetation Control.
- Elevated Work Platform Certificate
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to effectively liaise with staff, Councillors, customers and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member/leader of a team.
- Experience in the coordination and management of staff.
- Industry Card.
- A current WWCC.
- Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.

**Desirable Qualifications and Experience**:

- Experience in a Local Government environment
- Chainsaw Certificate
- Felling Certificate
- Traffic Controllers Certificate
- Prior experience in a similar role with 5 years of experience.
