The Manager, Land Acquisition is responsible for the management of staff and delivery of project outcomes related to land acquisition and compensation. The Department of Transport brings together all transport modes to design, plan, build and operate Victoria's transport system for all users. Leading a team of case managers through critical project delivery and impacted party negotiations, you will be able to provide your mentoring and critical thinking to all aspects of this unique role.

**Who are we?**

The Department of Transport Property Division provides land acquisition and associated services to infrastructure projects delivered by the Department and Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA)

**About the role**

The Manager, Land Acquisition will manage projects as well as a range of government land transactions (e.g. compulsory acquisitions, negotiation of leases/licences, purchases, temporary occupations, underground strata divestments and Planning and Environment Act claims) and associated compensation for our clients which include the Department's Groups, Westgate Tunnel Project, Crossing Removal Project, North East Link Project, Major Roads Project Victoria and Suburban Rail Loop Authority.

**Key deliverables include**
- Under broad supervision, you will effectively settle assigned land transactions in accordance with the relevant legislation and government policies and procedures. This includes interaction with landowners, their representatives and other interested parties, preparing all statutory notices and other correspondence, preparing, recommending and obtaining internal and external approval to offers of compensation, negotiating and settling compensation cases, obtaining possession of land in accordance with project time frames and relevant legislation, recommend and support dispute resolution via VCAT or the Supreme Court, and updating systems/databases with key information.
- Effectively plan, monitor and deliver assigned projects through the entire project lifecycle, either individually or with the support of other project specialists, to ensure that the project objectives, key milestones and quality outcomes are achieved.
- Demonstrate experience in Government land transactions
- Be regarded as a thought leader in project management
- Detect the underlying concerns, interests or emotions that lie behind what is being said and done
- Drive a culture of quality by design where quality practices are embedded in the service and solution delivery process and
- Take into account wider business context
