**The Role**
The Western Australia State Office within the Workforce Australia Provider Support Branch is responsible for service delivery management of the government’s employment and skills agenda, with a focus on appropriate placed-based responses.
The State Office is responsible for program and contract management of employment and skills service providers, regional and place-based strategies, programs, and initiatives that respond to local labour market needs and industry and employer focussed initiatives that respond to workforce shortages and seasonal labour needs.
The Indigenous Service Officer role on offer in the State Office is a unique and exciting opportunity to shape and influence policy, generate insights, and to inspire the capabilities and mindsets needed to strengthen a partnership approach to our work. The role will contribute to meaningful initiatives that genuinely matter to First Nations people while connecting with the diverse and vibrant cultural fabric of the state. It is an opportunity to utilise your cultural competency to play an important role in shaping employment services to be more culturally competent and provide better services to First Nations Australians.
Reporting to the Director, the Indigenous Service Officer is responsible for engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and networks and business to better capture Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and provide advice to the Director to enhance servicing in provider performance frameworks, assurance activities and evaluation of employment services.
The role will be a valued member of the State Office team to support engagement activities as well as representing the State Office in a professional context.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Core responsibilities of the Indigenous Service Officer include:
- The ability to undertake a wide range of stakeholder consultations with First Nations people in a culturally competent and appropriate way.
- Provide advice and cultural expertise across a broad range of activities including performance frameworks, assurance activities and evaluation of employment services.
- Promote a healthy and safe workplace environment, model ethical behaviour in accordance with APS Code of Conduct and APS Values.
- Demonstrate an understanding of metro and regional Western Australia in a First nations context and develop strong stakeholder relationships and gather intelligence to influence policy direction and identify potential place-based servicing options.
- Represent the WA State Office and the Department in a professional context at forum’s, meetings, presentations etc.
**Qualifications and Education**
- A driver’s licence is essential.
