**Job Description**:
Sodexo are currently seeking a GM of Indigenous Affairs to Lead Sodexo’s efforts in Australia ensuring our significant and long-lasting positive impact on addressing Indigenous disadvantage “closing the gap” in Australia through overseeing implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan’s priorities of direct employment, business enterprise and community sustainability, education and training.
This position will effectively establish and execute an Indigenous Affairs strategy in alignment with the company’s overall business plan, through collaborating within teams and committees and influencing business partners nationally across multiple segments and functions.

**Job Scope**:

- Develop and implement Indigenous Affairs strategy.
- Manage all projects and activities relating to Indigenous Affairs in Australia.
- Advancing behavioural change in the organisation, promoting a culture of inclusion and awareness through the development and deployment of Indigenous Affairs communication and awareness materials.
- Provide insights, resources, tools and action plans that increase the attainment of Indigenous Affairs goals within the context of the company’s overall business plan.
- Lead, manage and mentor Indigenous Affairs Team.

**Requirements of the role will include but are not limited to**:

- Develop and deliver Indigenous affairs strategy that is complementary to Country Business and HR strategies.
- Provide leadership to the Indigenous team for the achievement of company objectives under Sodexo’s Indigenous Employment and our RAP.
- Responsible for implementing assigned components of strategy and tracking related metrics and accountability for Indigenous & Community engagement across the service platforms and multiple segments of Australia.
- Provides practical Indigenous Affairs consultation to business leaders including advice and support on implementing relevant strategies and action plans, in line with the company’s overall business plan to enhance and drive performance.
- Provides support to Sodexo legal council on Indigenous Affairs related matters as required.
- Executes initiatives to improve recruiting, development and retention of Indigenous employees.
- Supports compliance with regional/national workforce regulations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to Traditional Land Owner (TLO) Groups and Corporations, Communities, Indigenous Chambers of Commerce, and other Indigenous organisations as required. Key focus on WA and QLD.
- Advancing behavioural change in the organisation, promoting a culture of inclusion and awareness through the development and deployment of communication and awareness materials in Indigenous affairs.
- Attend relevant meetings, conferences and events as a Sodexo Indigenous Affairs Leader and Ambassador.
- Forming community/client-facing networks through Indigenous Affairs and Engagement to promote the Sodexo brand externally and support the Sales and client retention efforts.
- Ensure a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality throughout all areas of work.

- Previous experience and the ability to work with indigenous communities, their cultures and stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering Indigenous Participation within mining and resources sector.
- Experience in working with the implementation and delivery of Aboriginal, employment and or training programs.
- Experience in improving participation amongst under-represented groups in the Workforce.
- Extensive networks with Indigenous Organisations, including DEEWR, PNTS and other support services.
- Demonstrable Indigenous Affairs competencies and sensitivity - A professional yet nurturing and understanding manner.
- Successful experience in leading and managing a team of both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous employees.
- Proven experience in successful delivery of Indigenous Affairs programs across complex, matrixed and global organisations.
- Ability to start and to run (in-person and virtual) networks and communities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team-player, yet self-starter and autonomous.
- Ability to flex between strategic thinking and tactical planning/doing - comfortable at all levels of thinking and people liaison.
