We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Head of Human Resources to lead a small team dedicated to attracting and retaining a connected, high performing, engaged and committed staff community in a safe, creative and productive work environment. You will lead the design and implementation of the School's strategic and operational people initiatives to ensure consistently strong and supportive networks are established across the School community to support AFTRS 5-year Strategy, Creating The Future.

**About the role**:

- **As the Head of Human Resources at AFTRS, you will**:_
- Advise, coach and support staff, providing responsive, proactive and compliant advice relating to operational people matters, risks, issues and trends to facilitate informed decision making and capacity building.
- Develop and implement a staff recruitment and retention plan that prioritises inclusive recruitment practices and reinforces a strong employee value proposition to attract and retain excellent staff.
- Work with the Director of People and Culture to lead the provision of advice and guidance on Industrial Relations issues, negotiating employment conditions through enterprise bargaining and assessing organisational risk from an IR perspective.
- Lead and oversee the effective management of complex staff matters including grievances, performance improvement, conduct and other investigations, ensuring consistent, fair, transparent, and equitable standards are maintained to build and maintain a safe and productive working environment.
- Promote a physically, psychologically and culturally safe working environment by facilitating professional learning experiences and by managing investigations of complaints of bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
- Oversee the School’s workforce planning cycles, ensuring that the strategic workforce plan aligns with the school’s business plan and budget.
- Lead and manage Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Injury Management services.
- Champion belonging and inclusion through regular proactive initiatives and embedding principles across all people policies and processes.
- Oversee the design, development and implementation of effective professional development and coaching initiatives to drive engagement, performance outcomes and a school culture of curiosity and excellence.

**About you - you have**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline and/or Professional membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI or FAHRI).
- Substantial Human Resources leadership experience in at least four of the following Human Resources functions: Talent and Performance Management; Organisational Development and Learning; Culture and engagement; Workforce Planning; Recruitment and Selection; Industrial Relations; Belonging and Inclusion; Reward and Recognition; Work Health and Safety; HR Policy development.
- Strong hands-on ability to inspire, motivate and drive a small team, fostering enthusiasm and innovation.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively analyse, influence, negotiate and provide advice to support the resolution of complex workplace issues.
- Demonstrable experience in all facets of negotiating enterprise agreements and working with Unions.
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the principles and practices of belonging and inclusion including experience engaging respectfully and meaningfully with First Nations people and culturally and racially marginalised groups.
- Experience creating psychologically and culturally safe work environments.
- Proven track record in building and implementing cultural change initiatives to enhance employee engagement, productivity, and organisational outcomes.
- Deep understanding of WHS legislation and regulations.
- Possess qualifications, or be willing to be trained in, Mental Health First Aid.
- Values-led with strong personal drive and integrity, including demonstrated use of initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness.

**SALARY: AFTRS LEVEL 8.1 - 8.3 ($115,957 - $135,649) + UP TO 15.4% SUPER, AND EXCELLENT BENEFITS.**
