The Assistant Director, Financial Management is responsible for managing the day-to-day provision of financial management services, compliant with the department’s legislative obligations, including the _Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013_. This involves the provision of accurate and high-level advice to employees and other stakeholders, on a range of budgetary, accounting, governance and other financial matters.

The role is primarily responsible for the administration of the department’s financial management information system, Technology One and integrated systems, and the management of financial services to the Parliamentary Budget Office as articulated in a memorandum of understanding.

The occupant of this position leads and manages relevant projects, develops policies and guidelines and represents the department at forums and other meetings on topics relevant to financial management. They require a comprehensive knowledge of the Commonwealth’s financial framework and the Australian Accounting Standards applicable to a Commonwealth department and must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and exercise judgement in carrying out their duties.
