**OVERVIEW**

Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an experienced Policy and Evaluation Officer to join their team at the APS5/6 level. Within this role you will assist the team in driving innovative research policy reviews and evaluations.

**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Undertake strategic, evidence-based policy and evaluation work in relation to programs.
- Derive insights from quantitative and qualitative data on performance and impact.
- Manage policy and evaluation project activities, including project planning, procurement and contract management.
- Develop clearly written, well targeted documentation for a range of audiences, including policy briefing, evaluation reports and other written products.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of performance assessment frameworks to support the effective monitoring and evaluation of policies and programs.
- Contribute to work across the agency, including supporting reviews and other strategic policy activities.
- Find new and creative ways to support and uplift policy capability of staff within the agency.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support a broad understanding of programs and their role.
- Leverage policy review and evaluation activities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

**EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS**
- Demonstrated strategic thinking skills, including the ability to use evidence to derive policy and evaluative insights.
- Experience in policy development, the provision of advice and policy review activities.
- Ability to gather, interpret and analyse quantitative data (using Excel) and qualitative data (e.g. literature reviews).
- Sound judgment and the ability to work independently to lead substantial projects through to completion, including managing timelines and adapting to change.
- Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex documents.
- Ability to develop productive working relationships and to effectively contribute to a team.
- Experience developing program logics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
