**Role description**:
Our Places Business is seeking an experienced Defence Lead to spearhead the development and execution of successful pursuit strategy for the business’ entry into the Defence market in Australia.
Reporting to the State Director, the National Defence Lead - Cost & Commercial, has ultimate accountability for managing and partnering on projects and ensure our continued commercial success.
Working as part of the Cost and Commercial leadership team, you’ll use your extensive knowledge within cost & commercial or project management to identify opportunities within the defence sector, estimating or coordinating tender documentation and build and manage a team with specialist capabilities for best practice delivery.
As a natural networker with established contacts and credibility in the Australian market, you’ll use your commercial acumen to continue to grow our brand. Your previous experience in managing large teams will allow you manage our resources and capabilities to ensure outstanding client care.
**Role accountabilities**:
- Leading the development of new business pursuits and bids in the defence space;
- Estimating or arranging tender documentation and maintaining an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of client business drivers, strategies and priorities, and business environment.
- Proactively managing contractors trade package and articulating market-relevant propositions;
- Establishing and developing a strong team that is aligned with our culture, business targets, and strategies;
- Developing and sustaining high level business relationships both at a company and personal level, through networking, attending functions, and promoting and presenting the Arcadis business at every opportunity.
- Building key networks with decision-makers in client organisations to establish, grow and embed relationships in line our business strategy and forward planning.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life. You are a seasoned leader in your field with strong industry ties and demonstrated credibility in a consulting environment. You will come to us with:
- Substantial experience in defence projects - either consultant or client side;
- Demonstrated background in quantity surveying;
- Experience working in a tendered project services environment;
- Sound commercial background, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures; and
- Ability to build and manage a team, with excellent influencing, motivating and delegation skills; and
- Relevant degree or qualification in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying related areas, with RICS and AIQS accreditations.
