**The Team and You**

Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC) is dedicated to presenting, producing and developing culturally and linguistically diverse artists and art-forms within QLD. BEMAC delivers an annual program that includes activities funded by Arts Queensland, Australia Council for the Arts and Multicultural Affairs Queensland, as well as venue management of the the Queensland Multicultural Centre (QMC). We aim to deliver programs in partnership with CaLD artists and communities. BEMAC is managed by Settlement Services International (SSI), through its Arts and Culture function.

SSI Arts and Culture embraces the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions which ensures that artists, cultural practitioners and citizens worldwide have the right to cultural practice and preservation. The purpose of SSI Arts and Culture is: (1) to promote and facilitate meaningful participation in and enjoyment of arts and cultural activities by all members of the community; (2) to nurture and promote artists and cultural practitioners from refugee and migrant backgrounds to continue their creative practice and professional development in Australia.

The BEMAC Operations Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management of the organisation, including operational policies and procedures, finance, programming, production, professional development, marketing and communications, contract management and compliance, as well as developing and diversifying funding and business opportunities. The role will work closely with the BEMAC Producer, Public Relations Lead, QMC team and management to revise, plan and deliver BEMAC’s vision, purpose and goals in line with BEMAC’s strategic and operational plans.

You are dynamic and enjoy establishing and maintaining strong relationships with artists and cultural practitioners. Plus networking and collaborating with our key partners including arts and cultural organisations, government agencies, service providers and local communities.

You will also have the following experience:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications such as arts and cultural practice and/or management
- Demonstrated success and leadership in managing the development, delivery and facilitation of community-based, arts and cultural development projects and programs
- Demonstrated success in supporting and empowering artists, community arts organisations and groups
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with artists and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated event management experience in the arts and cultural field, including large scale events and festivals
- Demonstrated experience managing people and resources
- Demonstrated experience in arts and cultural programming, production and project management
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian arts funding and philanthropic landscape and demonstrated capacity to generate project income
- Demonstrated experience forming and maintaining relationships with key local arts stakeholders at senior levels and within community
- Sound knowledge of issues, trends and government policy impacting the creative sector
- Proven ability to work independently, with a high level maturity, discretion and judgment; including problem solving and decision making skills
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated report, presentation and submission writing skills
- Strong financial management skills including a demonstrated ability to prepare and manage budgets
- Experience working in the community and/or settlement sector is DESIRABLE
- Broad knowledge of issues, trends and government policy impacting refugees, asylum seekers and migrant communities in Australia is DESIRABLE
