Public Sector People is proudly partnering with Hobsons Bay City Council to appoint a Coordinator of Planning Operations within the statutory planning unit.

The position is responsible for the delivery of a contemporary, customer focused service to all parties involved in the statutory planning process. The position will lead and deliver improvements for the Statutory Planning team and support other business units within the Planning Building and Health department to deliver on improvements.

As a formal leadership position that will oversee a team of 7, this role will ensure that the service provided to the community is of a high standard to meet customer expectations.

Working closely with an established leadership group, there will be additional scope across continuous improvement related to service delivery.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Lead the Statutory Planning Administration Team and Customer Liaison Team to successfully deliver services and be governed by the policies, objectives and budgets with regular reporting to ensure achievement of goals and objectives.
- Analyse, measure, implement and maintain continuous improvement standards, systems and procedures within the Statutory Planning team.
- Work with the Manager Planning Building and Health Services to co-ordinate actions and project manage the implementation and refinement of Continuous Improvement Plans.
- Provide interpretation, advice and feedback on effective process management and business improvements that have been implemented across the State and in other local government areas.
- Develop a range of performance measures to improve the consistency and performance of Planning, Building and Health systems and reduce the time taken for decisions.
- Create and maintain effective networks within the industry to assist with the continuous improvement of work processes and benchmarking of performance in Statutory Planning and related fields
- Examine and refine customer service procedures for the Statutory Planning team to improve the customer experience
- Support the Strategic Planning Unit in developing relevant policies for planners.

To be successful in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in statutory planning or a related discipline as well as a number of years of previous professional experience. A commitment to excellence across customer service and for managing stakeholder relations will also be required. You will have knowledge and understanding of the principles of continuous improvement and familiarity with best and results-based accountability.

Employment checks and COVID Vaccination certificates will be required to commence. Hybrid working arrangements, 3 days per week office with flexibility for WFH on balance.
