**The Role**

The National Correspondent '“ The Point will pitch, develop and produce original and engaging feature stories for NITV’s flagship current affairs program, The Point.

Reporting to the program’s Executive Producer, this role will see you:

- Plan, prepare, research, write, edit and produce high quality, original and engaging current affairs stories, interviews and digital content for The Point and NITV Digital
- Generate, develop and pitch original content ideas, which reflect the SBS Charter and NITV’s unique identity, and give primacy to Indigenous voices and perspectives
- Deliver content including feature articles and video content to NITV Digital and other platforms, as required
- Assist the Executive Producer and Senior Producers in arranging guests and panelists for live programs as required

**About you**

We are looking for a creative storyteller, with strong research skills, who is passionate about elevating and amplifying the voices of First Nations people and communities.

You will have advanced communication skills and proven experience in journalism and/or media broadcasting, including the production and presentation of original, multi-platform news and current affairs content (television, online and social media). An understanding of, or experience in, camera, sound and editing systems is also highly valued.

You’ll have a deep understanding of Indigenous Cultural Protocol and the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

You’ll be comfortable working independently and possess great communication skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work by yourself. Working as part of a small team, you’ll have a positive and solutions orientated attitude with the ability to work under pressure, and meet strict broadcast deadlines.

Reporting on Indigenous issues right across the country, you’ll be willing to travel for breaking news coverage and significant Indigenous events.

This is a great opportunity for an Indigenous journalist or producer with a couple of years newsroom experience under their belt to take the next step in their media career
