The Role
The ABC is looking for an outstanding specialist reporter to spearhead the public broadcaster's morning coverage of key business, economics and financial markets news and set the national agenda.
The Role Will Include
- Staying abreast of breaking news in business, economics and finance, delivering easily comprehensible reports to the audience and also briefing other reporters and producers about the key events of the day.
- Presenting live on-air in studio, with a focus on Radio National Breakfast, News Channel, audio current affairs and audio on demand, in an authoritative style and tone (this role will require weekday shifts starting no later than 5am Australian Eastern Time).
- Generating original business, economics and finance stories that engage a broad section of Australian audiences.
- Developing, maintaining, growing and sharing a range of high-level contacts to secure exclusive information and strong interview talent.
- Advising and mentoring other staff, especially around key economic, financial market and business concepts and ideas.

About You
You will have outstanding experience in business, economics and finance reporting and or presenting with strong evidence of securing high level talent and exclusive information.
You Will Be Able To Demonstrate
- Evidence of breaking business, economics and/or finance stories that are picked up by other media.
- High level practical knowledge and understanding of current and historical issues in business, economics and finance.
- The ability to explain complex economic, financial and business concepts in an engaging and easily comprehensible way.
- High level editorial judgement in the area of business, economics and finance news, with the demonstrated ability to work independently without guidance or supervision.
- Strong broadcast presentation skills for audio and television, with a demonstrated willingness to continue building relevant broadcast, presentation and content creation skills.
- Sophisticated communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal colleagues, talent and audiences.
