About This Opportunity

This position will provide research and operational management support to the development of the research program, key collaborations and partnerships. The Research Manager provides efficient and effective research activity management, aligning team activity with faculty and university research goals and objectives, and supports the operational management the team.

The position relates to the research activities led by Professor Len Gray who is a senior researcher within the Centre for Health Services Research, within the Faculty of Medicine.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage liaisons with national and international bodies, including funding bodies and industry partners, as well as Faculty management teams.- Provision of information, reporting and advice to researchers on project budget management, research outputs, contractual matters and issues such as risk management, ethics and how to access advice in more complex situations.- Manage research and non-project budgets, establishing strong working relationships with support departments to ensure effective management of payments and reconciliation of research budgets.- Support high level operational administration of the research programme, managing HR/Finance and physical resources and ensuring governance in accordance with policy and procedure- Prepare budgets, monitor expenditure, ensure compliance with University and funding body guidelines, and produce internal financial reports. Manage project scope and budget variations.- Formal supervision of administrative support staff- Develop, document, implement and evaluate research protocols.- Implement and coordinate regular staff and stakeholder meetings.- Facilitate and monitor implementation steering committees and working groups

This is a part-time (50%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years. At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $105,338.31 to $118,280.70, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $123,245.82 - $138,388.42 annually.

About You- Postgraduate qualification with extensive project management experience- Demonstrated experience in managing significant sized research projects- Demonstrated experience with ethical clearance protocols- Demonstrated high level written communication skills to compose and deliver reports, academic manuscripts and proposals within the university and to external organisations.- Demonstrated high level oral communication and organisational skills, as well as an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in multi-disciplinary research teams- Planning, time management, problem-solving skills and ability to influence and elicit cooperation.- Demonstrated research skills such database management and design and drafting of peer-reviewed academic manuscripts- Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently within interdisciplinary teams
