Disability Support Worker

You will be required to perform all or some of the following tasks, which of course is dependent on the Participants’ needs and the individual support plan which directs what each of our disability support officers is to perform.

Duties that you will attend to but not limited by are:

- PERSONAL CARE_

Assisting a participant with their daily living may include:

- **Toileting** - assisting Participant on and off toilet/commode chair, and assisting with hygiene if required. Some Participants may require assistance with removal and replacement of catheter bags or incontinence aids. If is required Bowel care Staff is required Level 2 SCHAD AWARD and Certificate 4 Disability or Age Care and evidence complex bowel care training.
- **Medication** - supervising and prompting of Participant to take medication as, and only if, directed by the care plan and if have completed medication training as applicable to the situation. Personal Support Workers are not to give any medications without appropriate training. Staff is required Level 2 SCHAD AWARD and Certificate 4 Disability or Age Care.
- **Outings with Participant** - transport and assist Participant in activities such as shopping, attending appointments and recreation pursuits.
- **Assistance with mobility** - this may range from supervision and mínimal support with mobility to assistance with fitting artificial limbs or other aids or appliances, manual handling of Participants, including transfers using hoists or other manual handling aids.
- **Assistance with eating and drinking**, as required and monitoring of nutrition and hydration. Preparation of specialised diets.

COMPANIONSHIP
- Companionship and general monitoring of Participant.
- Assistance with prescribed exercises, following specific instructions/training
- Cleaning of aids and appliances.
- Personal care assignments may also include duties listed under home care/housekeeping.

The physical requirements will vary depending on the participants individual needs, workers need to always maintain safe work practices at all times throughout their shift.

**What is required you to have**:

- Certificate 3 in Disability Service and/or Aged Care.
- Certificate 4 in Disability Service and/or Aged Care (Required if level 2 support).
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate and up dated every three (3) years.
- Current CPR Certificate up dated every twelve (12) months
- Current Manual Handling Certificate and up dated on an annual basis.
- NDIS Workers Check Number
- NDIS - ‘Quality Safety and You’ - NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- NDIS - Infection Prevention Control up dated every twelve (12) months
- Working With Children Check - WWCC - updated every five (5) years

**Salary**: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
