About the Role

The HSW is responsible for driving the proactive implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) culture, strategy, plan and performance across a region.

Striving to advance Team Global Express’s (TGE) business strategy through enabling a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence the role is responsible for providing practical HSW advice and support to our people and delivering initiatives that continually improve our HSW culture and performance in line with our ‘Genuine Care Culture’ strategic priority.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

- Engage in the HSW cultural change program, including provision of support and initiatives to line management to achieve the goal of genuine care workplace.
- Ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with our HSW standards and procedures and other compliance obligations to ensure safety to our people, the community and the environment.
- Develop and review Site HSW Plans, in partnership with key business stakeholders ensuring alignment with Global Express HSW Plan and assist the business in achieving all objectives and targets.
- Participate in management review and management of change activities, as required.
- Promote and support excellent customer relations; attend and participate in customer HSW forums.
- Refine and implement communication plans to disseminate information in relation to HSW including but not limited to HSE Learnings, HSW Alerts, HSW Management System updates and TGE Reporting and Compliance System (TRAC) to ensure our people are kept informed
- Provide accurate and timely HSW performance reports to business leaders.
- Review the quality of information submitted by the region into TRAC, including but not limited to safety conversations, hazard identifications, corrective actions, incidents and investigations and person hours.
- Act as the TRAC Super User for the region through the provision of end user support and onsite training.
- Attend and develop materials/provide data for HSW Meetings/ HSW Toolbox (Pre-start) Meetings.
- Coordinate and deliver HSW training programs that enhance the understanding and effectiveness of the HSEQ Management System, risk management, safety leadership, hazard reduction, TRAC and HSW continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular site HSW inspections with business stakeholders to drive improvements on site conditions.
- Conduct incident investigations using appropriate methodologies to ensure determination of root cause and timely corrective action; review all other incident investigations and assist business stakeholders as required.
- Assist with the development/ review of risk assessments (or similar) ensuring correct completion and alignment with TGE requirements.
- Support business leaders with any site licence conditions or returns required.
- Support the HSW Bids and Tenders process by providing bespoke information in an accurate and timely manner.
- In conjunction with business leaders, assist with the planning and coordination of emergency preparedness and business continuity activities, including training and emergency response exercises.
- Review contractor HSW performance, including the pre-qualification / engagement process.
- Be prepared to undertake any other task that may be reasonably required from time to time for which you are capable of performing.

About you

- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and / or other relevant discipline
- Tertiary HSE qualifications (highly desirable)
- Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Environmental Management (desirable)
- 5-7 years practical experience in a HSE role with a focus on transport and logistics (preferable).
- An understanding of business, issues and restraints faced by line managers in implementing HSE processes and programs.
- Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience in participating in third party audits and corrective action planning.
- Dangerous Goods qualifications/ training (desirable)
- Chartered/ Certified HSE professional (desirable)
- Internal Auditor qualifications - IRCA, Exemplar Global or equivalent (desirable)
- Detailed knowledge of HSE legislation, industry standards and management system standards (ISO 45001/45003 & ISO14001).
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in the interpretation and analysis of HSE legislation and audit criteria.
- Excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with fellow team members, management, stakeholders and industry experts and write high quality reports.
