**About the team**:
The Digital team is focused on reinventing and transforming the shopping experience to best suit our customers' needs, making their lives easier.

This role will lead the newly form Core Infrastructure Engineering support team, a deeply technical and hands-on team, primarily responsible for providing Data Centre & Operations Support, Midrange, Database platforms, Enterprise Storage and Backup Services whilst working closely with the broader Digital security, Cloud engineering and Application groups.

As the Manager - Core Infrastructure Engineering you will be responsible for managing and evolving the team to deliver IT solutions across Core Infrastructure technology stack.

**About the role**:
Coles Technology has a Hybrid Cloud Strategy with a goal to deliver a consistent infrastructure experience regardless of where a solution is delivered. As part of the Core Technology Services team, this newly created position will lead the evolution of Coles’ Core Technology across private and public cloud.

We are on the lookout for an experienced Technologist who has proven knowledge across Data Centre & Operations Support, Midrange, Database platforms, Enterprise Storage and Backup Services with an ability to shape and contribute to the ongoing shift to Hybrid Cloud for Core Technology that underpins Coles’ Private Cloud platforms. Although the while operating and delivering high availability across our current services.

This is an exciting opportunity to guide and influence the step change in technology to support our customer shopping experience.

You’ll also:

- Be tasked with uplifting the capability and discipline to enable cost-effective, fit for purpose, highly resilient service delivery at scale and pace for core infrastructure.
- Increase the level of service and platform observability and measurability against best-in-class benchmarks
- Extend the delivery of storage, backup and database services to public cloud platforms
- Utilise automation and self-service to improve speed to value and provide better service where appropriate
- Responsible for the project delivery of Core Infrastructure solutions from design through to implementation.
- Provide technical planning, standards, and solutions to meet business needs and project timelines.
- Develop detailed documentation to satisfy business and operational requirements.
- Perform all aspects of planning, development, and implementation of infrastructure across the organisation.
- Provide in-depth technical expertise and advice as appropriate to the organisation.

**About you**:
This technical leadership role is fully accountable for Core Technology services working closely with internal and external stakeholders and providing professional technical advice throughout the organisation.

You’ll also need
- A track record of leading high performing teams.
- Proven performance in planning, delivering, and operating infrastructure in a large-scaled enterprise environment.
- Strong working knowledge of public and private cloud platforms including VMware, Azure, GCP and physical server hardware.
- Strong working knowledge of cloud-based storage, backup and database solutions
- Excellent knowledge of building, delivering, and supporting enterprise technologies
