**About the Role**

Manage and direct the practice team to deliver technology solutions and business outcomes. This role will manage and coordinate the identification, diagnosis, and correction of complex technical problems with mínimal disruption to business activities. This role will lead the technical design, maintenance and operation of cloud-based platforms and build and maintain continuous delivery best practices and tools.

**Duties**

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as **Manager, Infrastructure Platforms** you will:

- Lead and develop a team of technical specialists with the express purpose of delivering solutions that deliver value to the business.
- Ensure a high standard of handover to IT Operations team to support solutions that the practice implements.
- Work closely with the IT Operations team to ensure that support processes are seamless, and accountabilities are clear.
- Operate within the overall icare IT Vendor Management framework, manage and measure vendors, suppliers and hosting providers to deliver services that comply with or exceed agreed service levels.
- Undertake negotiations with software vendors with regards to licence and maintenance fees and conditions.
- Collaborate closely with developers to adopt cloud architecture principles such as design for self-healing, design for elasticity and promote self-service.
- Provide skilled resources to deliver business initiatives and ensure that resources are managed and applied appropriately to meet these priorities.
- Lead team members in proactive management of critical incident resolution, problem management and changes to ensure consistent and integrated responses. Manage the identification, diagnosis and correction of complex technical problems to ensure there is mínimal disruption to business activities.
- Oversee the backlog of work for the Practice and make decisions to reprioritise the order to meet changing requirements and develop.
- Drive the performance of the team through regular performance discussions, setting of team objectives, provision of context and removal of barriers to enable the delivery of quality technical and business solutions.
- Manage the financial performance of the team including the team budget, cost transfers for projects and identification and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.

**Skills & Experience**
- Extensive experience in managing a team of engineers with particular focus on Infrastructure operations.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, in particular AWS, and network technology.
- Experience in the setup of best practice for cloud-based infrastructure operations and automation processes.
- Experience in project delivery and management through Agile methodologies and frameworks.
- Experience in managing technical delivery through vendors and partners.
- Experience in management and measurement of vendor relationships.
- Extensive IT experience combined with a broad range of management experience ideally within the Insurance and/or the Financial Services sector.
