**Position Overview**
The Chambers Manager provides a high level of executive support services for the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia, and manages the work and staff of the Chief Justice’s Chambers.
The Chambers Manager acts as a first point of contact for the Chief Justice and liaises with senior internal and external parties to support the Chief Justice. In doing so, the occupant must possess exceptional initiative and professional communication skills, and ensure the utmost discretion and confidentiality in their interactions and handling of matters.
The Chambers Manager needs to have an excellent level of knowledge of the Court’s strategic priorities, functions, practices and procedures, to manage the Chamber’s operations and lead the small high-calibre team of two Associates and one Executive Assistant to provide services to the Chief Justice, and work closely with the Principal Registrar and CEO of the Federal Court, the judges, registrars and their staff.

**Major Activities**
- Manage and monitor chamber’s workload and matters for the Chief Justice.
- Liaise with judges, the Registrar and senior court staff on chambers management matters.
- Provide appropriate briefing to the Chief Justice of forthcoming events and meetings, and prioritising matters for attention and resolving issues.
- Act as a first point of contact for the Chief Justice and deputise for the Chief Justice as required with a range of external stakeholders and organisations.
- Implement changes to work practices and processes in consultation with the Chief Justice.

**Selection Criteria**
- Extensive experience in managing high level executive support to CEO or senior executives or senior legal professionals, demonstrating ability to support the Chief Justice and assist the team with administrative arrangements as required.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of the operations of legal professions and judicial environment, and the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Court’s strategic priorities, functions, practices and procedures to a highly proficient standard.
- Strong leadership and ability to set priorities and organise workload, manage and develop staff, to provide seamless high level support, achieving accurate and complete outcomes within strict time constraints.
- Strong liaison, communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in an environment requiring utmost tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Demonstrated high level of professionalism and initiative, privacy and security awareness, and ability to adapt to changing demands including flexibility to work outside normal work hours and travel as required.
