The opportunity
The Chief of Staff role is a key leadership role within the firm, reporting to and working closely with the CEO, to ensure the successful execution of the firm’s strategy.
The Chief of Staff role comes with a high degree of responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference in the firm. It requires sound judgement and the ability to build strong internal relationships, think strategically and execute effectively.
This is a Melbourne-based position and involves regular travel (at times up to 50% travel).
Key responsibilities
Helping to drive the CEO’s strategy for the firm, prioritising issues and supporting the CEO in day to day activities of the firm.
Acting as a sounding board to the CEO in the development of firm initiatives, and working closely with the executive team and department heads on successful implementation.
Directly managing CEO internal and external communications and engagement.
Supporting the CEO at nominated meetings and events (and associated preparation) including client visits, media engagements and conferences.
Skills and experience
As a representative of the CEO’s office and the executive team, the Chief of Staff must at all times evidence integrity and high standards of professionalism.
**In addition, the Chief of Staff must have**:
Outstanding judgement and decision-making skills, including the ability to navigate and solve complex problems.
A positive attitude, energy and commitment to continuous improvement.
Strong business acumen, and an appreciation for operational excellence and client service.
The ability to balance competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise, influence, challenge effectively and build relationships at all levels.
Relevant legal qualifications (ideally a lawyer with 1-6 years’ experience).
Outstanding academic results.
