Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

**SCV**
The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

**About the Role**
The Honourable Chief Justice Richard Niall is looking for a legally qualified individual to be one of his Associates.
The successful applicant will assist his Honour with his judicial role and with tasks particular to the administration of the office of the Chief Justice. The Chief Justice's chambers will consist of two associates, working in conjunction and rotating between the legal and administrative support functions of the role.
Excellent organisational, research and communication skills, the ability to work independently, personal qualities suitable for liaising with the judiciary, the profession and members of the public, as well as a strong academic record, are essential.
Post-admission experience is highly desirable.
Duties include:
- Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining Court records and preparing material for use by his Honour in hearings.
- Researching and drafting speeches and articles on a variety of legal and policy topics.
- Responsibility for organising and clerking at ceremonial sittings and events, including admission ceremonies and judges' welcome and farewell ceremonies. The applicant should be able to speak confidently to a full court at these events.
- Preparing research and briefing memoranda and assisting in the production of judgments, including proof-reading and editing in compliance with the AGLC.
- Clerking in hearings.
- Preparing updates on law reform.
- Arranging and/or attending some meetings and engagements with his Honour.
- Working closely with his Honour's personal staff to facilitate the efficient functioning of the chambers of the Chief Justice.
- Liaising with Court staff, the public, government and the profession.
