The Compliance function is responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses to ensure that they effectively manage the Regulatory and Financial Crime Compliance risks arising from their activities.

Taking on this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that HSBC’s retail operations in Australia are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating these risks and that timely advice is provided to the business.

You will be someone who is able to see things from the customer perspective and have conduct at the forefront of every piece of advice.

With a focus on how Compliance can innovate, this role will support the Senior Manager of WPB Compliance Advisory with initiating and implementing change, exploring the use of design thinking and regulatory technology to continuously improve the service offered to our internal and external clients.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an agile way, advising on new and exciting digital initiatives, where regulations may not address the innovation being implemented. Advice on the implementation of digital customer journeys, mobile apps and instant messaging tools will be a regular and increasingly large part of the role.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Supporting the Senior Manager WPB Compliance Advisory, delivering on established guiding principles and strategic operational objectives.
- Providing advisory services to the WPB business to ensure clear understanding of Compliance Risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions and products.
- Working closely with the team to support the business in maintaining an effective control framework, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, internal policies and good market practices.
- Assisting HSBC stakeholders on all material compliance related matters.
- Assisting to represent the Compliance agenda within HSBC Group’s governance structure.

Requirements

**To be successful in this role, you will need**:

- A strong team focus, with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, coupled with experience of dealing with executives at all levels.
- Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex global compliance and regulatory issues.
- A legal qualification would be an advantage but not essential.
