The role The role of the Principal Policy and Planning Officer is to undertake a range of policy, planning (including health needs analysis and assessment) and project management tasks related to the evidence-based investment in health services aimed at improving the health of First Nations Queenslanders.
You may be required to inform and/or represent the Department on inter-agency and inter-governmental committees and multidisciplinary working groups at national and state levels to progress First Nations health issues. In addition you may be required to manage and/or inform programs and projects associated with the Queensland Government's First Nations health budget and portfolios.
There are three positions available in the First Nations Health Office Engagement and Monitoring Branch:

- Two positions reside in the Remote and Statewide Engagement Team covering the six Queensland Health Hospital and Health Service regions of Torres and Cape, North West, Central West, South West and Darling Downs that includes local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services and other health service providers.
- One position resides in the South East Queensland Engagement Team covering the five Queensland Health Hospital and Health Service regions of Metro North, Metro South, Gold Coast, Children's Health and West Moreton that includes local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services and other health service providers.

The successful personIn this you role you will be responsible for leading key areas of work under the direction of the Manager, and the Director and Senior Director of the Engagement and Monitoring Branch.
You will have demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting First Nations people and subsequent health impacts with the ability to critically analyse and interpret data and information to underpin policy and strategy development, health service planning and performance monitoring.
You will have demonstrated the ability to form strong working partnerships to deliver on business outcomes through a collaborative and co-design approach, and demonstrated experience working with and communicating with First Nations stakeholders including community members, service providers and sector leaders. You will also have demonstrated high quality writing skills and the ability to prepare high quality advice and analysis to inform decision making.

The Engagement and Monitoring Branch informs the implementation of policies, strategies and funded projects that deliver improved health outcomes for First Nations people. Through a strategic engagement approach the Branch partners with HHSs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ATSICCHOs) and other stakeholders, influencing solutions to bring about better integrated care for First Nations people
