This position resides in the Data Advisory team of the Data Governance Section (within the Data Program which is part of the Data and Digital Group). While the role reports to the Team Leader of the Data Advisory team, it will also be guided by the Australian Climate Service (ACS) Program team, including the Manager of Data Services, in the Data Program.

The Australian Climate Service (ACS) is a partnership between the Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Bureau of Statistics, CSIRO and Geoscience Australia. The ACS will be the Commonwealth’s trusted provider of data, information and knowledge-based services that support improved preparation for, response to and recovery from natural disasters in Australia. It will bring together Australia’s word-leading climate and natural disaster information and expertise in a customer-led and mission-focused national capability.

The role will contribute to ACS reporting and working group documents as well as active participation in working group meetings. The role will coordinate data management activities undertaken by Bureau data managers (stewards) and work with internal stakeholders across the enterprise on information rights management (copyright, licencing, security, metadata etc) as part of the contribution to ACS.

A key part of this role is enhancing the existing documentation and tools to comply with enterprise governance structures and engagement with data stewards and customers about the Bureau's and partner agencies' data assets. The ACS’s two key customers, Emergency Management Australia and the new National Recovery and Resilience Agency, will drive demand for the ACS's capability. Over time the ACS is likely to extend its reach across the Australian government and into the private sector.

To be successful you will have:

- Proven skills in Data Governance and Data & Information Management
- Proven skills in stakeholder liaison and relationship building, maintaining professionalism even in a high-pressure environment
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, influencing and leadership skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including active listening
- Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering successful and innovative outcomes, project advice and coordination, particularly across multiple government agencies
- Enthusiasm and drive as part of a high-performing team
