**About the role**

Reporting to the Manager, Communities & Indigenous Engagement, the Principal, Indigenous Engagement is responsible for leading a team of regional advisors to build enduring relationships of mutual respect and trust between Traditional Owners, Native Title Partners and MinRes operations and business units.

This position is responsible for the effective implementation and compliance with our Native Title Agreement commitments to provide positive social and economic outcomes for Traditional Owners.
- Lead a team of regionally based Indigenous Engagement Advisors to deliver strong community and Indigenous engagement outcomes
- Build and sustain respectful relationships and partnerships with Indigenous communities and key internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of engagement programs and commitments
- Provide strategic advice and develop and deliver programs in relation to Indigenous engagement, training and employment, cultural education, Indigenous business development and Reconciliation Action Plan deliverables.
- Provide a pivotal advisory and coordination role for MinRes events, promotion, and acknowledgements in the corporate office and operational sites, such as Welcome to Country, NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week.
- Support the engagement, participation and retention of local Indigenous peoples in MinRes employment and facilitate access to local and MinRes support services.
- Represent MinRes at community meetings, forums and events associated with Indigenous engagement and build positive business support and reputation;
- Promote positive engagement between MinRes leaders and sites, Traditional Owners, community members, employees, and other key partners.
- Ensure Indigenous engagement and agreement obligations are monitored and reported effectively.
- Support the broader Traditional Owner engagement functions of the Communities and Heritage team as required

**What you’ll bring to the team**
- Broad background, ideally with experience working in mining and resource industry in an interfacing role.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to safely lead and support the development of a strong and diverse team and coordinate resources across a range of regional locations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with communities and traditional owners,.
- Experience with developing and delivering stakeholder engagement plans, or Indigenous engagement, employment or development programs, and the ability to manage commitments and disputes highly regarded.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership with the ability to communicate confidently and influence key internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing internal and external relationships and working collaboratively with Indigenous communities, peoples and organisations.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with confidentiality and respect.
