**About the Role**:
As the Commercial Business Partner - Reporting and Grants at Melbourne Polytechnic, you will play a pivotal role in developing and assisting in the managing of the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions of the institution. A focus on continuous improvement and automation, to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting processes within our organization. This position requires a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and data analysis to support decision-making processes and ensure financial sustainability and efficiency.

This position will also be responsible for managing the grant process within Melbourne Polytechnic.

**Duties**:
1) Assist the Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting Manager in the coordination and alignment of the Business Planning and Budget Processes:

- Assist in developing and coordinating the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with department heads and senior management.
- Support the manager during the budget process and provide advice and assistance in setting budget/forecast cycles.
- Prepare financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate financial feasibility of projects and investments.
- Assist in the presentation of the consolidated business plan and budget to the Institute’s Board for approval in a comprehensive and timely manner.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures in relation to the department

2) Monthly monitoring, analysis and reporting:

- Track, review and report monthly financial performance of all grants to ensure alignment with approved budgets/forecasts and highlight areas of improvement
- Perform monthly reconciliation of all grants at account level, ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly
- Interpret financial data and communicate findings effectively to non-financial stakeholders
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by management
- Ensure the timely completion of financial reports required by Government Agencies that are associated with contracts for the delivery of services.
- Assist in the preparation of regular reports on the status of the Melbourne Polytechnic budget/forecast to the Board, Senior Management and HESG.
- Ensure all reports are accurate, comprehensive, and timely to support decision making process.

3) Forecasting and cash flow management:

- Assist in the review performance against budget targets to identify and quantify potential revision to forecast profit, cash flow and balance sheet positions.

4) Strategic Planning and Decision Support:

- Partner with relevant stakeholders to develop and review business cases for new grant/tender proposals to support investment decision making that is strategically aligned and financially sound.
- Provide insights and financial advice with relevant analysis and modeling to management to support strategic decision-making processes.
- Identify financial risks associated with grant funding and develop strategies to mitigate the risks

5) Continuous improvement and change management:

- Continually review and improve Melbourne Polytechnic’s planning, budgeting and reporting processes and systems to support best practice in these activities.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of automated self-serve dashboards and reports to streamline grant reporting and ensure that financial data is readily available for strategic decision-making.

6) Grants:

- Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders in all aspects around the management of all grants received by Melbourne Polytechnic.
