What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of AFP Emergency Procedures Advisor.

SHIELD is a health capacity that will embed health and wellbeing into the day-to-day operations for AFP employees by providing services across Australia and directly supporting the health of the frontline. SHIELD will propel the AFP to a more preventative, forward leaning, face to face service delivery model in support of performance optimisation.

The AFP Emergency Procedures Advisor role supports national and international AFP business operations through the development, delivery and review of required emergency procedures documentation, associated planning and training delivery, together with engagement in a variety of administrative and compliance functions to ensure organisational safety and competence in the effective management of emergency situations.

This role is full-time and ongoing with ability for flexible work arrangements to be considered.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

**The duties include but are not limited to**:
Performing a range of functions supporting AFP’s preparedness to respond and manage a range of emergency situations, including but not limited to:
Emergency Control Organisation (Emergency Warden and First Aider structure) to ensure initiation of an appropriate structured response to emergencies,
Provide advice and direction to AFP members on their legislated responsibilities in relation to response to emergency situations,
Planning and implementation of emergency procedures specific to AFP facilities.
Undertaking project and research work as required to support AFP’s emergency response capability;
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing AFP response to emergency situations;
Contributing to the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes and systems which enhance the delivery of AFP operational outcomes;
Ensuring outputs are achieved in support of the strategic direction of the AFP;
Developing and implementing training and advice to fulfil a guiding, mentoring and advisory role; and
Essential Requirements
Demonstrated contemporary experience and expertise in development and management of emergency management procedures for workplaces within a geographically dispersed and operationally focused organisation;
Ability to develop, conduct, assess and report on the effectiveness of training programs tailored to the specific locational and legislative/regulatory requirements of a diverse range of facilities;
Understanding of the demands associated with a 24/7 operational environment;
Ability to develop and deliver training to operational and professional staff to ensure the health and safety of all workers during an emergency situation;
Willingness and capacity to conduct training in all AFP facilities (likely to require travel of up to 14 weeks per year);
Ability to access a wide variety of AFP controlled operational environments, including but not limited to admin
