What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member Payroll Services.
AFP Payroll Services deliver fortnightly pays to approximately 7,500 appointees using SAP. We have a complex and fast-paced operating environment, which means that there is never a dull day and always something new to learn.
Our work is the administration of conditions of service and entitlements for AFP appointees including processing of pay, leave and superannuation. This role supports the delivery of payroll services to AFP appointees by processing payroll transactions, providing advice on pay related matters and monitoring areas of risk.
Working in Payroll Services is an important contribution to the frontline endeavours of the AFP. As such you will learn more about the exciting work that the AFP does to deliver on our mission to protect Australians and Australia's interests.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?
**Payroll Service Officers are responsible for**:
Day to day payroll processing in accordance with strict deadlines.
Calculating entitlements for staff, including commencements and cessations.
Interpreting and providing advice to staff on salaries and related entitlements, leave and general conditions of service in line with the Enterprise Agreement and related legislation, policies and procedures.
Undertaking general administrative duties associated with the provision of payroll and financial services to the agency.
Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Participating as a constructive team member to deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practises and standard.
Contributing to and implement improved operational practises, procedures and guidelines.
Mentoring staff.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to Payroll, Finance or Human Resources.
