**About the role**: Public Affairs Officers work under general direction and within their sections to design, develop, implement and evaluate various media and communication activities, services and materials.

**Please note**: staff in the Media and Communication Branch are rostered on call for media enquiries after hours and on weekends (attracting overtime).

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:
- Contribute to creative and effective strategic communication solutions, and track the progress of your work in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment;
- Coordinate input for strategic communication and media advice to key stakeholders;
- Write, review and produce high-quality communication materials for internal and external audiences;
- Manage and seeking advice for media enquiry responses, and liaise with policy and operational areas;
- Collaborate broadly to develop creative communication products, including web content, video, digital and print products;
- Exercise your professional judgement to respond to complex operational issues; and
- Participate in the our of hours media on-call roster with supervision.
**Role requirements/qualifications**:
Highly Desirable
- Qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations and/or journalism or extensive experience in a communication, public relations and/or journalism role
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst juggling multiple demands in a complex environment
- Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to liaise widely and develop productive working relationships at all levels.
Production and Design Section
- Minimum of two years relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education
and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of filming, editing video, creating motion graphics
and digital photography. Please provide links to current portfolio/show reel.
- Demonstrated skill with video editing software platforms, specifically with the
Adobe Creative Cloud Suite - Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Knowledge of video production equipment.
- Ability to operate and carry camera equipment (up to 16 kilos).
