What even is an Operations Team Lead? It's a stepping stone to be an Operations Manager. Learn the ropes at this MSP as a Team Lead, helping guide and mentor the support team, then as that team grows, you move into the Operations Manager role and appoint your Team Lead successor from the team.

You still get to be hands on with technical stuff. You also get to do projects and look after a fairly complex hosted environment of client servers. You look after small business clients but also larger data center hosted infrastructure. The best of both worlds. You get to design and deliver projects end to end, mentor and lead a team while helping them support the client base as well as be the Sys Admin for some decent enterprise grade kit.

If you're an all rounder and you're looking for a Team Lead role with one eye on a future manager position. This could be it.

**The Tech Stack**

**Servers**
- Exchange (online & on prem) - mail flow
- AD (Entra ID & on prem) - group policy
- Backups - end to end configuration of backup systems
- Domain - DNS
- Sharepoint Online - administration
- Hypervisors - end-to-end build and configuration of Hyper-V and VMWare hypervisors (including multiple hosts / shared storage)

**Networking**
- End-to-end configuration of complete network stack for small and medium sized networks
- Understanding of advanced concepts - routing, infrastructure VPNs, DHCP relay/helper

**Telephony**
- Advanced diagnostics
- SIP interoperability testing and troubleshooting with carriers
- Carrier level platform installation and maintenance

**Workstation**
- Intermediate OS troubleshooting - event logs, domain trust issues, user profile issues
- Advanced OS troubleshooting - registry editing, DLL registration issues
- Business app support - advanced understanding of business apps (Office, MYOB, industry specific apps)
- Provisioning via Intune of RMM tools
- Installation via SCCM/WDS
- You don't need all of the above, but it does give you an idea about the broadness of the tech stack. What you don't have can be learnt on the job so long as your level 3 technical competence is clear.
