**Your New Role**:
The Head of Financial Control is a significant leadership role within Group Finance & Strategy. Leading a large team, the role is responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting for the AU Group.

Driving a change and continuous improvement culture across the Financial Control team while ensuring a robust internal control environment is maintained is critical to the success of this role. Building strong relationships with stakeholders, particularly commercial finance is also important as is providing outstanding and inspiring leadership to the Financial Control team.

**Your New Role Looks Like This**:

- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial results on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis including variance analysis
- Ensure integrity, governance & compliance of financial controls including Balance sheet reconciliations/ Journal Entries/ Analytical reasoning
- Provide direction, coaching and training to the financial control team members.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of regulatory and prudential capital requirements where relevant, including capital requirements reporting
- Support the Statutory reporting team with the year end process including ensuring all inputs are provided timely and all audit requirements are met
- Oversee the preparation of budgets and forecasts for operating business units based on inputs from the Commercial Finance team
- Drive an agenda of continuous improvement and simplification for the Finance function, working in partnership with the GM Finance Operations to accelerate the automation agenda
- Role model the aspired Leadership behaviors to source, lead, develop and retain high quality team members aligned to the Australian Unity culture

**About You**:

- Membership of a recognized accounting body is mandatory (CA or CPA qualified)
- Minimum 10+ year’s relevant accounting experience within a complex medium to large corporate environment
- Leadership skills to lead a team of experts as well as leadership of commercial and financial discipline to the broader organisation
- Advanced understanding of financial controls and systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to cultivate productive and effective relationships
