**Eligibility**
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care

**Division Responsibilities**
The Technology Assessment and Access Division supports the government and works with
key stakeholders to provide reliable, timely, safe and affordable access to medicines,
devices and other medical technologies and improved choice in health services to all
Australians, including through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), Life Saving Drugs
Program, Prostheses List and blood, organ and tissue programs, and other targeted
assistance programs and other programs to improve health outcomes for all Australians.
**Branch Responsibilities**
Office of Health Technology Assessment Policy (OHTAP) Branch provides oversight of a
range of policy and programs with a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) focus to facilitate
patient access to cost effective treatments that improve health outcomes. OHTAP’s key
responsibilities include:
- Providing policy advice to the Minister on HTA-related matters and developing new
approaches for a number of HTA programs supporting access to health technologies
for patients.
- Supporting the PBAC through the Drug Utilisation Sub-Committee (DUSC), Post
Market Reviews, PBS process improvements, transparency measures and cost
recovery administration functions.
- Policy and day-to-day administration of the lifesaving dugs, stoma products, blood
and organ programs.
- Oversight of Australia’s National Medicines Policy framework and initiatives to
strengthen the transparency and resilience of the medicines supply chains.

**Key Responsibilities**
Supporting delivering national health technology policy and related programs, including
some or all of the following:
- implementing Commonwealth Budget measures
- undertaking stakeholder engagement and coordination activities (e.g. with the
medicines industry, health practitioners, consumers, relevant peak bodies and
professional organisations, and State and Territory health departments)
- conducting post market reviews of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme subsidised
medicines
- cost recovery activities
- preparing a range of written material including policy and/or program advice,
Ministerial and Executive briefings and submissions, and general correspondence
- contributing to effective team performance and continuous improvement projects.***
