**Eligibility**

**Division Responsibilities**
The Technology Assessment and Access Division (TAAD) supports the government and
works with key stakeholders to provide reliable, timely, safe and affordable access to
medicines, devices and other medical technologies and improved choice in health services
to all Australians, including through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), Life Saving
Drugs Program, Prostheses List and blood, organ and tissue programs, and other targeted
assistance programs to improve health outcomes for all Australians.
**Branch Responsibilities**
Pricing and PBS Policy Branch oversees and shapes pharmaceutical supply, access, pricing,
funding and usage practices in Australia. This is achieved through development and
continued improvement of policies and programs - including the PBS. Some of our key
responsibilities include: the accurate and timely publication of the Schedule of
Pharmaceutical Benefits; efficiently and effectively delivering pharmacy and pharmaceutical
programs; providing informed and responsive policy advice; communication, consultation
and collaboration with stakeholders; ensuring our work aligns with broader Government
priorities.
**Section Responsibilities**
The PBS Analytics and Strategic Insight Section is responsible for:
- Undertaking financial modelling to support the listing of medicines on the PBS.
- Undertaking scenario modelling of PBS data using a variety of analytical tools including
Excel, SAS and bespoke modelling software.
- Providing accurate and fit-for-purpose data and statistics to stakeholders including the
Executive, Ministers and agencies
- Undertaking individual and team-based research and analysis projects to assist in the
development of evidence-based options for New Policy Proposals, consulting across the
Division, the Department and with external agencies.
**Role Description**
The PBSASI Section is seeking to fill a number of roles at the APS6 level. The roles include
working in a small team to support a range of modelling and projects, with clear outputs
and deliverables. These roles would suit individuals who have skills and experience in a
health-related science (e.g. pharmaceutical/clinical, medicine, nursing, pharmacy,
biochemistry etc.) and programming, data analysis (e.g. MS Excel, SAS, R, Python and SQL
etc.), data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, etc.), or advanced knowledge and
experience in time series forecast, microsimulation models, budget estimates and relevant
costing models.
- While the positions are primarily Canberra based, the Technology Assessment and Access
that are already state based.

that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing or non-ongoing) within the Division and
Department of Health and Aged Care for up to 18 months.
