**About the role**
Join our dynamic team at Grampians Health Ballarat, Victoria, and become a crucial part of our Security Department as a People Leader. As an integral member of the team, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our Security Team, working closely with the Security Manager to ensure the continuous development of our multi-disciplinary security force.
At Grampians Health, we take pride in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of security. As the People Leader of our Security Team, you will play a pivotal role in upholding these standards within our vibrant and ever-changing work environment.
We are looking for an experienced individual who possesses excellent knowledge, strong leadership skills, and prior experience in supervising large teams and security staff. Your expertise in on-site security, building management systems, fire control systems, and standard operating procedures will be invaluable in this role. While you may not be conducting patrols yourself, your ability to instill Grampians Health Values in your team members is crucial.
In addition to your exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service, this role requires a deep understanding of security risk and hazard management principles. Building and maintaining strong relationships with your team, co-workers, and key stakeholders, including local Police, will be essential for developing effective security strategies that align with the needs of our hospital.
As the People Leader, you will be responsible for rostering, policy implementation, and contributing to the growth of the hospital during these challenging times. Your dedication and leadership will directly impact the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors.
In this position you may be required to work flexible shift hours, including weekends and Public Holidays in accordance with business needs during the Covid pandemic. In normal time Monday to Friday.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensuring on-site Security Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to at all times whilst on-duty
- Effect hazard risk management principles to mitigate risks
- Participation in on-the-job training and using initiative to gather further business intelligence around new and/or unfamiliar/adhoc duties.
- Ensure staff are supplying effective patrol of premises, including (if applicable) vehicular patrol
- Respond to calls for assistance and respond to code alarm events/ensure enough staffing to cover
- Manage conflict through negotiation, with critical abilities in using two-way interaction; non-judgmental and non-discriminatory language; and active listening techniques.
- Communicate effectively with all persons whilst on-duty
- Use communication systems including portable two-way radios
- Promote and maintain workplace health and safety
- Provide regular contact with, and reports to, Supervisor/Site Manager
**Skills and experience**
- Current Security Licence
- Hold a First Aid Certificate or willing to complete within 3 months
- Current Open C Class drivers’ licence
- Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of Hospital Security desirable
